Another Example of My Longwinded, Pesimistic Nature

Saturday, October 13, 2007: Missing organs? Rant ends at paragraph 15, subject start at 16

Current mood: restless

Stuck awake, depressed, and I probably made a mistake by watching Saw 2 before bed time.

Can you blame me for being hard on myself? Those who do not appreciate life do not deserve it.
Great, now I gotta replace the bulletin title, it feels like a rant.

Why do I want to be a writer? I haven't put much thought into that. Really, the concept came from being declared as the total mainstream outcast from a few personality test. A weirdo, eh? Let's run with it.

So I'm stuck in ICC's Creative Writing (short stories) with a poor instructor who believes that my sense of humor is that of a scumbag. I guess a more accurate description would be from his critique of my first story that was A work with an unjust B grade.

Hey, it may not have been publishable (that's what rewrites are for), but compared to what I workshopped in class:

"There is nothing funny about these horrific events. Characters that make light of it are scumbags."

I admit my second work was not A quality, or B, I think C quality (again, rewrites), but the story was great, and readable, but his ignorance to appreciate it bugs me.

After all this, let me just say, this is more of a journal than a literary work. So fuck you for fucking nitpicking.

7/27/08 - 8/29/09: Nothing has changed, A year Wasted?

I sit in my empty room. No lights. No Music. Just sat there.

Honestly, I never wanted a System of the Down lyric to define me, but that's exactly where I feel I'm at.

What do I do what do I say...

I really feel like I have nothing moving forward in my life. My friends seem to be at different, and better places than me. Returning to wrestling is seeming more and more like an impossibility. And all I'll get out of school is the ability to speak Mandarin. I don't see a degree and that is some niu pi.

With all the good things have been seeming to be unattainable, I cannot come up with a reason to keep forcing myself to obtain them. I genuinely feel like I've ran my course, and it's time to answer to whatever created me (I hope it's not those pricks Tom Cruise talks about).

To add to the problem, I really want to own a gun. My intentions at this time aren't suicidal. Just seeing those commercials for Jolie's latest flick make me want to see if I can curve bullets.

See how bad off I am, I'm tempted to see Angelina in a leading role. Just put me in a line up with Clea Duvall and Torch.

So, this has become a long-winded blog before I have even gotten to the point.

There is one more task I want to do before I die, and that's to finish and sell my screenplay. This maybe the only thing worth living for right now. This is at least going to be worthwhile to most of you because many of you've been wanting to know what goes on in my notebooks.

Can Michael Bay Desecrate Everything We Love?

Current mood:  sad

The new "Friday the 13th", a film with potential because it immediately gives us the seven footer, but what exactly is this flick? A reinvention? An homage? Or messed up? With the involvement of Michael Bay, I lean towards the latter.

I won't get into a "Transformers" debate, and I liked "The Rock" despite it was overblown in every shot, but realize that Bay broke all of my motion picture standards.
These are:
  • There is no such thing as a bad Ewan McGregor film ("Star Wars 2" is on Mannequin Skywalker),
  • There are no bad Scarlett Johansson movies (I'll stand by any cat friendly comic book hero film),
  • And Steve Buscemi cannot be featured is a garbage flick ("Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within had no Chocobos").
In the name of "awesomeness,"" The Island" screwed cinema up forever.

Just think back to the "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake which I thought was utter crap. It had potential...hold on...no it didn't. Since gore was the justification of the original's sequels, we knew what the classic relative bloodless classic could have been. The remake was 90 minutes that I have to force myself not to regret viewing it because their was nothing emotional behind the violence.

Fortunately, this film gave me the knowledge that R. Lee Ermey, sadly, isn't a guy who can star, so I knew I could skip "The Beginning".

Clive Owen, Isla Fischer, and Jason be damned.

Current mood: drained

I know I have few worthwhile qualities, but film criticism seems to be one of them. Add unemployment to the mix, my oxygen consumption should be considered felonious if I do not use the only thing I have going for me right now.

As my fate seemingly dictates (according to the Jet Li classic "Tai Chi Master"), it is not currently an act to partake in. February has usually been an off month, and this year follows in that trend. Yes, I have not seen "The Wrestler" or "The Reader", but it is quite difficult to find a place within reasonable proximity to Peoria to catch a 2'ish showing of either one. Happy hour is reserved for the Stat Boy Hour on ESPN.

Perhaps the date is truly unlucky because film criticism is proving quite difficult since nothing worthwhile is opening. My "Friday the 13th" blog from last week would be considered hypocritical if I was to see the film. "The International" attacks my almost religious faith in hoping for the return of responsible capitalism, and "Shopaholic" is an emasculating scare. So how can one find a cheap replacement for the emotionally bankrupt offerings from ***Southern California this week? And be clever about it?

***May this statement not reflect poorly on the adult film industry. That Aurora Snow has heart. With some of her scenes, I can swear that I've literally seen it.

Hopefully you followed my public service announcement last week, and resisted going to see the new "Jason". Now I hope I can provide you with some encouraging of the abuse of fine British thespians.

If I could, would...

Current mood:  morose
Category: Blogging

Just trying to write something everyday. I don't know, it maybe a need to be challenged I guess.

If the older sister isn't hogging my bedroom (better known as my parents office space), I'll blog.

If I got time before class, I'll fill a page in the notebook next to the fabled first draft of my second screenplay.

If all else fails, I'll try to write based around the graphic on the next page in my Adrian Tomine journal Stef got me.

If I wanted a challenge, there's one. Every image is about relationships. What do I have to write about that topic?

It seems I've been getting little thrills out of simple stuff.
